In the details

Nineteen spreads of detail such as this, most other pages of which are in comic strip form. That's why I'm disappeared. That and I got flu and arthritis and generally overwhelmed...

I'm currently around the twelfth spread and have had most of the work up until that point rather joyously approved by the publisher, so hooray for two week's work.

Possible gig at 229 Grt Portland St with Yo Zushi this evening.

Comics.

Gah!

Yup, should have specified: comics drawn by other people whose work one admires greatly? Yay!

Drawing comics oneself? Gah!

Hard work innit?

gallimaufry! i love it.

it's funny how easily and naturally our environments devolve into heaps of junk and absurdly unrelated collections, but how difficult it is to draw a convincing pile of such. when i was little, my favorite picturebook for a while was ramsbottom rag. there was a picture of a hobo playing a broken piano in the middle of a junkyard overrun with small creatures. i stared at that page for hours!

JS the empty speech bubbles against the eggshell beauty of all things owned and unowned is very fine. I know words fill the spaces, as always they tend to do, but for now a lovely peace lies there.

Really hope you feel better.
Play well and be well soon.

I'm fond of the wordless version too, but I'm not sure how Michael Rosen would feel about it...

Ha no no, Michael Rosen would want for words, as is only right, to fill the hush. But for a night they shall wallow in the quiet.
